Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center: Roof design with GLAPOR cellular glass gravel
When building the Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center in Copenhagen, the use of the huge flat roof areas was a challenge. 1,400 m³ of GLAPOR cellular glass gravel made it possible to create a modelable lightweight construction layer for playgrounds, paths and greenery.
The material combines low weight with high load-bearing capacity (up to 37 t/m²). Its angular structure ensures stable interlocking – ideal for creative modeling of large areas. Even vehicles can drive over the roofscape without causing any damage.
The closed-cell gravel is permanently dimensionally stable, capillary-breaking, frost-proof, non-combustible and easy to work with. Transported to the roof by crane and variably installed, the surface was ready for use in just two weeks – quickly, efficiently and economically.
