The FamilyLab at the LWL-Museum Textilwerk Bocholt is a public building that consistently lives sustainability. Instead of concrete, cellular glass made from 100% recycled glass is used for the foundations and floor insulation – combined with a reused timber construction from a former exhibition pavilion.
The result: a resource-saving construction method with excellent insulating properties that can be completely dismantled and sets a strong example for circular construction.
With the FamilyLab, architect Marc Günnewig and the modulorbeat team are not only creating space for play and education, but also a pilot project for the building revolution. Materials can be separated according to type, there is no need for interior cladding and the open star shape of the building invites creative use.
GLAPOR cellular glass makes concrete-free foundations possible – durable, thermally insulating and climate-friendly. A project that shows: Sustainable building starts with the foundation.
