As part of the interior renovation of the Seckau Basilica, the old building floor was also renovated – with GLAPOR cellular glass gravel as ecological insulation against ground moisture. The sandstone of the 800-year-old building absorbs a lot of moisture. In order to permanently protect the walls, the floor was completely renewed and filled with 220 m³ of GLAPOR cellular glass gravel – light, pressure-resistant and capillary-breaking.
The previous cement-bonded tiles lay seamlessly directly on the ground – with serious consequences: Bulging, moisture damage and a compromised structure. The new structure with cellular glass gravel not only compensates for height differences, but also provides a durable, stable base with a natural insulating effect.
GLAPOR cellular glass is dimensionally stable, rot-resistant, frost-proof, non-combustible and resistant to mold, insects and rodents – ideal for use in historic buildings. Processing in big bags reduces dust and effort in the interior.
