In Poland, a building was erected for the first time on a foundation made of 100% GLAPOR cellular glass – completely without concrete or steel. The clients wanted to create a foundation with a particularly low carbon footprint and made a conscious decision to use our recycled material.

Concrete is one of the biggest emitters in the construction industry – its production causes enormous amounts of CO₂. GLAPOR cellular glass boards offer a recyclable alternative here: made from 100% recycled glass, pressure-resistant, dimensionally stable, non-combustible and completely reusable.

Large-format boards were used for the project, which were laid in a bed of sand and precisely aligned – without any glue or concrete. A cross-laminated timber floor rests on top. This solution saves CO₂ and allows for residue-free dismantling.

The project was created in collaboration with Dom z Natury and Piotr Duma. The inspiration came from the Tversted House in Denmark – the first foundation in the world without concrete and steel. GLAPOR is proud to be part of this pioneering development.
